Instructor: Ray Hummell, USD lecturer in supply chain management and ISM-San Diego treasurer
The purpose of this four-hour, interactive workshop is to:
- Introduce you to, or refresh your knowledge of, total cost of ownership (also known as all-in-cost or life-
cycle cost, and abbreviated TCO)
- Help you understand its quantitative and qualitative components
- Provide you with a framework to perform a TCO analysis
- Give you hands-on practice using a short TCO case
TCO focuses on analyzing all relevant costs to determine the total cost of purchasing and utilizing capital
equipment, labor, direct and indirect materials, services and products, and in analyzing suppliers’ quotes/bids.
In addition, Net Present Value analysis is an important adjunct to TCO that will assist you in certain TCO analyses
where cash flows are known.
Attendees will be provided copies of TCO Excel spreadsheet templates AND should bring a computer with
